註釋
Discusses the role and function of the Jewish training ("hachsharah") camp at Paderborn, which prepared Jewish adolescents for emigration to Palestine. After the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, hundreds of young people perceived the "hachsharah" program and emigration to Palestine as the only way out of Germany, although the number of immigration certificates gradually declined. In Paderborn, 100 boys and girls were prepared for manual and agricultural work, and for communal life. In July 1941, the camp became a labor camp. From October 1941 emigration was prohibited and all "hachsharah" farms became forced labor camps. In February 1943 the camp was evacuated and its 98 internees were deported to Auschwitz. Pp. 151-178 contain a list of all the Jews who were in the camp in Paderborn (the address was Gruener Weg 86), their date and place of birth, and information on their fate.
