註釋
A method for selecting optimum vertical float support systems for aircraft is outlined. This method involves a systematic study of the effect of various geometric parameters, such as float diameter, spacing, vertical center of gravity and damping plate width, on vehicle motions. Possible criteria for selecting the optimum float system, including rms motions and accelerations and impact, are discussed as are minimum static stability requirements. Means for final design of a float system including structural design are not considered. A computer program for calculating the vehicle motions in six degrees of freedom is included. This program is based on the equations developed by Wong (see AD-639 203) and represents an updating of the program presented in an earlier report (see AD-668 171). (Author).
