註釋Abstract: Interest in sports and exercise is increasing as an avenue to better health; there are many techniques which enable the person desirous of greater physical activity to do so safely. The conditioning program which is necessary to build capacity begins with an understanding of the body basics: heart, muscles, joints, diet, and avoiding injury. Various training methods and the parts of the body they benefit are explained. The chapters on popular and available sports (walking, running, tennis, swimming, team sports, dancing, etc.) begin with diagrams identifying the muscles and parts of the body which need strengthening and stretching, and which benefit from that sport. Energy consumption for various levels of activity is given where applicable. Limitations imposed by age, asthma, or disease are discussed with a view to overcoming them.
