Field notes Vol. 496 documents Bassett Maguire's botanical collecting in Brazil in 1963 on a New York Botanical Garden expedition, with co-collectors Celia K. Maguire, João Murça Pires, E.P. Heringer, and Nilo T. Silva. It consists of a list of specimen numbers 56001-57191, collected August 4-October 20, 1963 in the Belém-Brasília-Acre Highways, Estados Pará, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Rondônia. The list contains collection locations and dates, description, and herbarium determination (added later and still ongoing). A 2-page itinerary is attached inside the back cover. Blank pages were removed when the notebook was rebound. The Maguire field books also have their own volume numbering scheme; this is Vol. 29. Copy 2 is a photocopy made by the NYBG Archives, and may not have all herbarium determinations.
