Our Wedding Journey
註釋In 1965, George and Barbara Perkins were newlyweds living in Rutherford, New Jersey and teaching at Fairleigh Dickinson University. They joined a delegation of professors and students who were going to England to open a new Fairleigh Dickinson University campus at Wroxton Abbey. Buying a car, they toured France and Italy for a while before shipping it home, and then toured England mostly by train and bus. For George, this was a second trip: on the first he had hitch-hiked through England and Scotland and was eager to show Barbara some of the places he had seen. They met old friends at the University of Edinburgh, visited Edinburgh Castle and Falkirk Palace, and prepared the way for their return a year later, when George would teach at Edinburgh and Barbara would continue her Ph.D. research in Medieval Studies at the National Library of Scotland.
