Overview of Water Quality in the Muskeg River Basin, July 1972 to March 2001
註釋Alberta Environment has been sampling the Muskeg River in the northern oil sands area since 1972. The purpose of this report is to summarize historic & recent data, interpret water quality conditions & controlling factors, check for any long-term trends in water quality, and assess potential effects of oil sands development on water quality in the Muskeg River Basin. After background information on data collection & analysis methods and on the characteristics of the Basin, water quality data are reviewed with regard to temperature & oxygen characteristics and chemical constituents. The final section discusses management implications of the results of water quality monitoring, highlights knowledge gaps, and identifies future monitoring activities to support the management of the Basin.
