Price to Pay
註釋'Price to Pay.' is the first book in the exciting new 'Robert Price Thriller' series of novels written by Jack Wyatt. When Robert Price lost both parents in a road traffic accident, his life was thrown into chaos. With no other family, and feeling that he couldn't continue with his disrupted medical training, he joined the Army. The Army had provided him with structure, routine, purpose and, perhaps most important, companions. Companions who became something like a new family. In return, he felt he had been a good soldier. He was proud of his service record but there was one thing, a thing that did not appear on any record, that he was not proud of and now it looks as if it's coming back to haunt him and the five of those colleagues who were with him that night. Out of the Army and back home from his job in France for a short time, he is visited by two Police officers who tell him that Mike Down, one of his team that night, has been found tortured and murdered at a remote site in Cornwall. Price has little time to come to terms with this news before he finds that something has happened to Con, another of the team, in Africa but the Army is keeping quiet about what has gone on. Was it possible that the past was catching up with them? Could it just be a coincidence? Cornwall and Africa, was that even credible? They had been so careful, how could anybody identify them? Even if they could, where would they get names, and then addresses? What did it mean for Gwyn, Sol, John and himself? It doesn't seem remotely possible, but Price was never a person who could sit back and wait for things to take their course. He was their Sergeant, they were his team, he was responsible. If there was some person or persons targeting his team, then he is determined to seek them out and show them that there was a price to pay. This is a story about how the choices we make and their consequences can shape our lives and the lives, and deaths, of others. It's about commitment, responsibility, loyalty and what happens when these are compromised. Most of all its about friendship and how far we are prepared to go to protect those we care for.Bonus: This book also contains Chapter 1 of Price of Deceit, Book 2 of the Robert Price Thrillers.Cardiff born author Jack Wyatt has been an engineer, a salesman, a lecturer and a National Sales Manager with a British Blue Chip Company.
