Nine documents pertaining to General Thomas Gage during the period 1765-1770. Three letters: one undated, in French, addressed "Monsieur"; and two to Sir William Johnson on military and Indian affairs (1767, 1770). Two sets of military orders: one to George Croghan, Johnson's deputy, regarding troop movements and relations with the Indians (1766); and one to Frederick De Peyster, treasurer of New York, to pay John De Peyster £300 (1767). The letter to Croghan is a contemporary copy. One affidavit dated February 22, 1766 ; and three bills of exchange signed by Gage (1766, 1767), two of which are duplicate copies.
