The Lee, Smith and related families of East London, Kent and Oxfordshire areas of England and Wales. Thomas William Lee (1891-1944) was the son of Jimmy Toodly Lee and Ellen Catherine Hooper. He was baptized at St. Luke, Victoria Docks, Essex. He married Lenda Smith (1891-1965), daughter of James Smith and Rosetta Johnson, in 1909 in Darenth, Kent. They were the parents of thirteen children. Descendants of all thirteen children are traced. The Lees and Smiths were originally from Epping Forest. They traveled all over southeastern England and settled in Canning-Town, Essex in the 1870's. The Beckwiths and Haslers are the maternal ancestors of the author.
