註釋
Over the past several years, thin granite pavers have become commonly used in exterior pavement construction. One- to three-inch-thick granite slabs that are usually more than one foot square are often used in new building deck and plaza construction. Granite pavers are often set on thin-set mortar, a flexible sand and gravel bed, or pedestal supports located at the corners of each paver. This paper provides information and guidance for architects and engineers on the selection of granite types and support systems that are appropriate for use in various pavement applications. It also provides an example of an initial selection of paver thickness for a typical size granite paver. Factors described that are to be taken into account for stone selection include stone strength and durability, safety factors, tolerances, the flexibility and typical detailing of the support system used, type and frequency of service loads anticipated by the designer, and anticipated weathering exposure and environment.
