Adolescent Gambling and Problem Gambling in Alberta
註釋Summarises findings and observations from a study of the prevalence of gambling and problem gambling among the adolescent population of Alberta. Study methodology included a telephone survey of 972 Albertans aged 12 to 17 and in-depth interviews with 56 adolescents selected from the 972 telephone survey respondents. The interviews compared responses from non-problem and problem gamblers. Results presented include gambling prevalence rates, characteristics of adolescent gamblers, behaviour of these gamblers and factors that affect such behaviour, adolescent gamblers' general health and substance use, and a summary of factors differentiating problem from non-problem adolescent gamblers. Concludes with recommendations regarding public awareness, prevention, outreach and intervention, and treatment.
