Everything is set for a fun-filled Halloween on the Outer Banks. Tig Alden's father, James, is in town for a benefit performance and her daughter, Paige, is busy with the high school's annual Haunted Swamp. Things take a dark turn, however, when an actual corpse pops up among the vampires and zombies...and James finds himself accused of murder.

Tig's ex-boyfriend, Chief of Police Travis Lamm, is convinced that James is guilty. Tig believes her father was framed and is determined to prove his innocence. But her search for evidence to free him uncovers some deeply-buried family secrets that make her question how well she really knew either of her parents.
