Letters to Lauretta, 1849-1863 from Darlinton, SC, and a Confederate Soldier's Camp
註釋David Gulledge (1813-1895) was born in North carolina and eventually settled in Texas with his wife, Eleanor Lauretta McBride (1820-1881) who was born in South Carolina. Lauretta, as she was known, was the recipient of a number of letters from an aunt on her mother's side. The letters concerned family activities back in South Carolina. David and lauretta were the parents of eleven children. Their eldest son, Samuel Blackwell Gulledge (1840-1863), served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and also corresponded with his mother. He was killed in the Battle of Gettysburg.
