Wildlife Conservation in Managed Woodlands and Forests
註釋The two-fold theme of this book - production and wildlife enhancement - is based upon the observations and experience of the authors and their exhaustive survey and summary of the relevant published literature. Much of this has not before been drawn together; it encompasses data from the UK, continental Europe, North America, China and Russia, all visited by the authors. In Britain alone there are two million hectares of productive forest and a considerable area of unmanaged, small, broadleaved woods. Positive management of both will enhance their value to wildlife without reducing their timber-producing potential. This is sustainability, as required by the Rio Summit, both of a renewable resource (timber and wood products) and of the wildlife environment.
