Simulation of Phenol Removal from Refinery Wasteswater by Liquid Membrane Process
註釋Removal of phenol from refinery waste waters using liquid membrane process was studied in a batch system. The initial experiments were conducted using phenol-water and the effect of various parameters on phenol removal were studied. This was followed by treatment of actual refinery process waste water collected in Madras Refineries Limited (MRL). It was found that efficiency of above 90% phenol removal can be achieved by this process. It was also observed that over 50% of suspended solids were removed from the waste water because of membrane sorption effect, which is an added advantage of this process. A mass transfer model was derived from basic mass balance equations and a computer simulation was performed. The experimental data were found to be in good agreement with the theoretical model. The data collected on liquid membrane process was sufficient to suggest that it is an efficient process for penol removal. [Author's abstract].
