註釋Dramatic author, novelist, critic, journalist, diarist, he is one of the most influential Romanian writers of 20th century. Artisan of the anti-fascist fight under the pro-Hitler regime of Antonescu, Mihail Sebastien asserts himself high and strong as a"Jewish, Romanian and Danubian". Living in years of pogroms and deportations, he died under the wheels of a Soviet military truck as he made his way to the university to open his course on universal literature. His diary was translated into French in 1998. --
