註釋Enterprise transformation is usually motivated by experienced or anticipated value deficiencies. A common surrogate for value is a company's market capitalization, or market performance. It is crucial for an enterprise in a dynamic market to understand value deficiencies in terms of both current and potential performance. Our multidimensional model of superior performance identifies the dimensions of Realized and Potential from among others so as to characterize future performance in a more comprehensive manner than one-dimensional approaches can allow. Experienced performance, whether superior or inferior (an experienced deficit) in relation to rivals, is measured as the dimension of Realized, whereas anticipated performance, whether superior or inferior (an anticipated deficit), is projected as the dimension of Potential. We validate our approach by applying functional data analysis methodology to our data set of 397 firms. Our findings confirm that performance cannot be fully explained with reference to just one dimension, confirming the importance of accurately estimating potential performance in dynamic markets.
