註釋
The yield of fermentable sugars by saccharification of oil palm waste fibres is found to be markedly higher within 48 h when the subrate is swelled by alkali treatments than that when it is simply boiled with alkali. The conversion was as high as 58% when swelling was applied, whereas, it was only 47% with the boiling process. Thus, an increase of more than 10% could be attained by swelling. After this comparison, swelling conditions were then optimised under which the conversion was found to increase to 76% resulting in further increase of 18%.
