註釋
"General relativity (GR) has proven to be one of the most powerful theories in modern physics, predicting phenomena such as gravitational waves, black holes and the precession of the perihelion of Mercury, among others. This theory is great in describing the universe at the big scale, but it breaks at the atomic lengths where we reach the quantum reign. So, in order to have a complete theory of gravity, there is still some work to be done. A lot of effort has been put into trying to quantize Einstein's field equations, but a complete theory has yet to be found. To get a quantum theory of gravity it seems that the best place to start looking for clues is inside black holes because in them matter collapses by the action of gravity to a very small region (singularity) in which quantum effects must dominate and our current theory (GR) breaks. One of the biggest difficulties in trying to quantize gravity is that a Hamiltonian is needed and it is not clear how one should construct it." -- Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
