Katzman pivots to the field of vintage periodical sales, for collections and gifts. As in his previous ventures, Bob knew little about the subject, but through self-directed study became adept at every nuance of the business. His inventory of newspapers, magazines and posters included appealing publications people remembered in a nostalgic way; some relatively common and affordable, while others were rare issues worth a great deal to serious collectors. Popular items included items published on a recipient's birthday, anniversary, etc. or posters illustrated in a particular art style sought after by his customers. Bob offered the service of tracking down hard-to-find publications. Bob and several fellow dealers created a network to locate rarities for special customers, such as an early issue of Newsweek Magazine of critical importance to the Holocaust Memorial in Washington, D.C. Often, a huge number of newspapers, magazines and posters were bought by studios to stage scenes on movie sets, creating authentic period settings with props seen on a newsstand or in daily life, to depict bygone days. His lifetime of resilience and entrepreneurial ventures motivates others -- despite numerous hardships: his health, little money, and business challenges. Bob refused to give in, and is grateful for every day.
