This text is Melanchthon's defense and biography of his close friend Martin Luther. It is perhaps the most intimate portrayal of Luther the man. Even this eulogy account is polemic against their many enemies. This story reads like a Hagiographic account. It is deeply mythologized; anyone who disagreed with Luther was “in the service of Satan” and Luther stands as a deified, noble servant of the Lord in all circumstances.
