As construções de Brasília
註釋In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Brasilia, this commemorative exhibition represents an important visual testimony of the different visions and interpretations of the modernity of Brasilia, planned and designed 50 years ago by architects Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. The book comprises 140 never before published photographs by photographers Marcel Gautherot (b. France 1910-1996, lived and worked in Brazil), Peter Scheier (b. Germany 1908-1979) and Thomas Farkas (b. Hungry 1924, lives and works in Brazil since 1930), who registered for a decade the city's architectonic step-by-step evolution since its initial stages in 1958. The edition also includes 60 works of art in different formats elaborated since the foundation of the city by modern and contemporary artists who used the city as their main inspiration. In this second nucleus we can find different generation artists that span from concrete artist Waldemar Cordeiro (1925-1973), modernist artists Almir Mavignier, Cildo Meireles to paulista photographer Caio Reisewitz (b. Sao Paulo 1967), amongst others.
