Shaker Music
註釋Usually folk music is recorded by others than the folk musician himself, bu the members of the Mother Ann Lee's Shaker communities recorded their own, developing a certain amount of music theory and their own system of notation. For this first scholarly work to date on Shaker music, Dr. Cook has access to a collection of more than 400 manuscript Shaker hymnals at the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland that have been neither cataloged nor studied before. This collection is by far the largest in existence.
