Beth Vogelsang is born of an unwed mother and unknown father, raised by her grandmother, aunts and uncles. She is subjected to abuse and becomes a teenage mother herself. When she reveals her emotional journey to her lesbian therapist, a series of revenge killings in Kansas City, Missouri begins.
