註釋
The Healthy HeadWaters Coal Seam Gas Water Feasibility Study is analysing the opportunities for, and the risks and practicability of, using coal seam gas water to address water sustainability and adjustment issues in the Queensland section of the Murray-Darling. Basin. Activity 4 developed a decision support system to assist the assessment of proposals to discharge coal seam gas water to streams in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin. The system features an ecological risk assessment framework tailored to the assessment of coal seam gas water releases. It incorporates newly developed ecosystem response models as well as the results of field and laboratory studies of water quality and flow related risks posed by coal seam gas water to aquatic ecosystems. These outputs provide for better management of the potential hazards and any benefits that coal seam gas water presents to aquatic ecosystems in the Surat and southern Bowen basins. The current report represents Task 5 of Activity 4. It presents collated results and recommendations presented in earlier reports. The aim of this document is to provide a conceptual understanding of the potential impacts of the release of coal seam gas water into surface streams in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin and to provide a framework for supporting decision making.
