“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience his life, every quality

of his mind, is written large in his works.” — Virginia Woolf

This anthology presents 50 selected personal narrative essays

by the students of Study Program of English, Faculty of Cultural

Studies, Universitas Brawijaya who were taking Genre Based Writing

Class. The personal narrative essay is one of the three genres that the

students learned and practiced in this class. This book is expected to

give an opportunity for the students to tell their personal experiences

to a wider audience and to get inspired to write more. While reading

the book, the audience will be able to catch a glimpse of what

memorable experiences these young writers have. Some of these

experiences are beautiful, some others are upsetting, scary, or sad,

but all of them have taught an important lesson to the writers.
