As a veteran, however, his wartime dossier is made available to Australian Intelligence. Keeping his involvement a secret from his family becomes paramount for both his and their safety. From time to time he would be contacted for another assignment to develop specialized equipment that had to be kept secret. He enjoyed his work, consequently during the design and build period, he lived in a world far removed from the devious atmosphere of covert intelligence. This becomes the ongoing theme of the book during the Australian period. Then in chapter 17, a rogue agent reappears with vengeance in mind. He narrowly escapes a near death experience and his family's safety is thrust into the forefront. It's urgency demands that he take them away from Australia to the safety of his birthplace in the UK.Finding a position with an electronics laboratory, his dossier once again follows him, and he is contacted by an agent. This time unlike the easy-going relationship he had in Australia, he is kept isolated.Things eventually unravel when he is accused of stealing official documents and he re-lives the trauma of his interrogation on board ship during WW2.Australian Intelligence comes to his aid, and with the turmoil behind him, he emigrates to Niagara Falls Canada to be close to his children.
