Strengthening Steel Girders with CFRP Laminate for Increased Flexural Capacity and Increased Shear Capacity
註釋Strengthening steel girders with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) laminate is an emerging area of study, mostly due to the success of FRP to strengthen other structural systems. The author of this report developed and tested theoretical models for strengthening steel girders for increased flexural capacity and increased shear capacity using carbon reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate. Increased flexural capacity was derived using plastic analysis. Increased shear capacity was derived considering the CFRP laminate acting compositely with the steel web to increase the total effective web thickness. The actual shear strength increase was based on changing the mode of failure. Three full scale test specimens were fabricated for both the flexural strengthening and shear strengthening models; one control specimen and two strengthened specimens were load tested to failure.
