註釋
The papers consist of a 261 page memoir written by James Callahan in October 2009 that was inspired by a return visit to Berlin, Germany decades after his service there with the United States (U.S.) Army. The memoir includes descriptions of his military service during the Cold War in West Berlin in 1963, in Vietnam, and Cambodia, and his service with the Defense Attaché Office of the U.S. Embassy in Paris. Callahan describes his duties during the 2nd inauguration of U.S. President Richard Nixon, his experiences during an emergency fact finding tour of Vietnam as a report drafter for General Cleland, international diplomacy, liaison duty during Operation Desert Storm, and his family life. He also describes his post-military career with the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service from 2000 to 2008.
