This study reports occupational and income gradients in mortality among retired public servants in Canada, based on data from the Public Service Superannuation Database maintained by the Department of Supply and Services. Among public servants who retired at age 60 or over during 1975-1992, survival analyses show that both occupation and income had associations with mortality among males, whereas only income was associated with mortality among females.
