He was able to track down 54 different types of chairs in use, and presented them on an auditorium size pedestal ordered chronologically and referring to a typology of usage. Citing classical design books or ordering catalogues the edition "Portrait of the Museum as Chair "works as a catalogue of all chairs, which have been in use in the Museum till 2001."
