Collection consists chiefly of letters from Amilcare Ponchielli to his wife, Teresa Brambilla-Ponchielli, spanning 1880-1885. The letters discuss rehearsals for La gioconda; teaching Puccini at the Milan Conservatory, including the premiere of Le villi; Brambilla's travels, as well as the many roles she sang; and other topics. With these are some letters from Ponchielli to others in the Italian music industry including publishers, musicians, and composers, such as Antonio Ghislanzoni, Auguste Durand, and others. Also includes a few manuscript musical sketches.
