Disability-related Support Arrangements
註釋This report examines equality issues of women with disabilities and the women who provide supports to them in the context of caregiving relationships. Six criteria are advanced (promoting self-determination, fostering mutual recognition, encouragement of respectful interdependence, ensuring security, promoting citizenship, and democratizing decision-making) for investigating the equalities & inequalities between women with disabilities and their women supporters. Chapter 1 describes the study methodology, chapter 2 reviews critical feminist & disability theory to outline the contextual background, and chapter 3 provides a statistical overview of caregiving & women with disabilities. Chapter 4 describes & analyzes the policy context in which women receive & provide disability-related supports in Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland. Chapter 5 profiles women who participated in case studies & focus groups conducted for this study. Chapter 6 describes the concept of equality and the six criteria for equality of well-being. Chapter 7 includes the qualitative analysis of equalities & inequalities in relationships between women, and chapter 8 examines the factors that account for equality. Finally, policy directions suggested by this research are proposed.
