This paper presents a survey of insects in the order Odonata on Cape Breton Island, based on a review of previous research on the order in the Atlantic region and on field work in Cape Breton Highlands National Park in 1997. It begins with information on the geography & habitat of the study area and on the research methods used, and discusses findings with regard to faunal relationships, species assemblages, and habitat associations. The bulk of the paper contains details of each species, including a description, geographic distribution, and locations & dates of collection of specimens.
