Facilitating Community-based Conservation Initiatives
註釋Community based conservation initiatives are bottom-up (or grass-root) activities. They have as their axiom two broad concepts. The first is that people who participate in decision-making will be more inclinded to implement any resulting solution. The second is that the participants if provided with sufficient information and support are capable of determining for themselve what the most appropriate solution should be. There are no set procedures for establishing community based conservation initiatives. While all need to take place within the overall context of ecosystem management, each will be unique in its needs. Experience has brought to light practices that assist or deter successful implementation. These are discussed in this paper. Lake Horowhenua (Waipunahau) is used as a case study."--Abstract (page 5).
