註釋The effects of drainage water from agricultural mucklands near Belle Glade, Florida, on water quality in Lake Okeechobee were examined in an intensive synoptic survey during August 1974. Twenty-five field and laboratory measurements were made on samples from 58 canal and lake sites. The impact of backpumping on the lake was evaluated by determining gradients of pollution indicators from the entrance points of the drainage canals out into the open water. The annual nutrient input from backpumping was estimated from available annual flow measurements and from concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in the drainage waters.
