註釋Radiation and nuclear decay may be taught as a part of a chemistry, physics or environmental science course. This book is designed to be used as a special unit in such a course. Computers and calculators are an integral and indispensable equipment component in a science laboratory, and these experiments provide a way to offer hands-on radiation experiments using this technology. This book contains six student experiments using Logger Pro (3.3 or newer) for Windows and Macintosh computers. A Vernier LabPro is used as the interface. The same experiments can also be performed using graphing calculators from Texas Instruments. Either a Vernier LabPro or a TI CBL2 interface can be used with the supplied calculator software called DataRad. The original CBL interface is not supported in these experiments. The experiments may be performed using either a Vernier Radiation Monitor or a Student Radiation Monitor. Both units are Geiger detectors, detecting the presence of ionizing radiation without measuring energy. The slightly more expensive Radiation Monitor is sensitive to alpha particles, while the Student Radiation Monitor is not. Otherwise, the two sensors are equivalent for these experiments. This book has been revised to include instructions for Logger Pro 3 software. If you are using an earlier version of Logger Pro, instructions for all experiments can be found in the Word Files for Older Book folder on the book CD. - P. viii.
