Network Governance and the Differentiated Polity
註釋This collection of essays is Volume I in a retrospective of the author's previous publications. It collects in one place for the first time the main articles written on policy networks and governance between 1990 and 2005. The introductory section provides a short biography of the author's intellectual journey. Part I focuses on policy networks. Part II focuses on governance. The conclusion provides the critical commentary, both replying to the author's critics and reflecting on theoretical developments since publication. With the exceptions of Chapters 6, 7, and 10, none of these articles and chapters has appeared in my other books. Chapters 4 and 12 have not been published before. The volume complements the author's other publications on networks and governance. In effect, it updates the author's Understanding Governance, which was published twenty years ago. Where necessary, an afterword to a chapter sets out the context in which the chapter was written, and identifies what has changed empirically. Discussion of both the continuing relevance of my arguments and the perspicacity of the author's critics appears in Chapter 12.
