No Time But This Present
註釋This is the second book, following on from Blessed are the Peacemakers. We see the young people returning to their normal lives, all completely changed by the Conference experience but still trying to make some sense of what has happened to them. Catherine and Micah feel they have to move on in their relationships. Tabitha and Cosmo find they have probably bitten off more than they can chew...but both are learning to listen to the promptings from God. Caleb continues to worry about whether he has made the right decision as to his future employment but ends up finding a job for Rachel. Sarah and Michael seem to fall deeper in love...if that is at all possible. Sarah tries her hand at subterfuge, revenge and cunning and realizes she will never attempt such desperate measures again...she has been all too good at it and it shocks her gentle soul. Lydia and John find they are going to have to live with interlopers in their life. Lydia finds John a little jealous of his wife's divided attention. "No time but this present" is a direct quote from George Fox...the founder of the Religious Society of Friends commonly known as Quakers. It encompasses the sense that today may be the only time that one can change, for the good, a situation...tomorrow may not give itself to change and yesterday is complete and can't be changed. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery only today is a gift.
