註釋Condensed version of a work first published in two volumes in London in 1915 and later as an abridged popular edition in 1930. Written by one of Australia's foremost explorers of the Antarctic region. Contains a detailed account of the Australasian Antarctic expedition's daily subsistence, its scientific endeavours and the epic sledge journey in 1912Q13 during which Mawson's companions ,Ninnis and Mertz, both perished. Illustrated with over 90 original photographs depicting the wildlife, the harsh living conditions and the spirit of the explorers. Includes two appendixes and an index. Mawson is best remembered for his pioneering feats in the Antarctic region and was knighted for his achievements in 1914.
