Water Circulation in Mangrove-fringed Estuaries and Coastal Waters
註釋There are importance feedbacks between physical, bilogical and chemical processes in mangrove-fringed estuaries and coastal water. Management decisions are facilitated by a sound understanding of these processes. Some of the key processes include 1) frictional effects which result in a tidal asymmetry with stronger ebb than flood tidal currents in mangrove-creeks; 2) the tidal asymmetric which results in self-scouring of the channels and the maintenance of a deep tidal channel. 3) the siltation which results when mangrove swamps are reclaimed; 4) lateral trapping processes which trap freshwater in mangrove swamps for long periods; 5) buoyancy-driven effects which trap detritus-rich mangrove waters in the tidal creek and can lead to anoxic conditions.
