註釋Evan Woodruffe titles his paintings with the date they're made. Woodruffe doesn't want a title to influence how we approach his intriguing narrative paintings; their meanings are puzzling so that we can own them all the more. We use narrative to make sense of existence but while lives may be described, selves do not so neatly conform to a narrative model; they are more complex. Woodruffe employs an ambiguous narrative to offer an ever-expanding, indefinable sense of self.
