Govind ballabh pant university of agriculture and technology, the first agricultural university of the country established on land grant pattern, was dedicated to the nation on 17 november 1960 by the first prime minister of India, Pt. jawaharlal nehru. The need of rural universities in india was first expressed by the university education commission of 1949 which was later endorsed by the first joint Indo- american team constituted in 1954.
