This report examines the soils of Abbeville County, located in the northwestern region of South Carolina along the Savannah River, which forms the state line with Georgia. The county seat, Abbeville, lies approximately 58 miles south of Greenville. Covering a total area of 510 square miles, the county features a diverse range of soils that vary significantly in color, drainage, structure, relief, erosion, and stoniness.
