註釋
The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. The trials resulted in the executions of twenty people, fourteen of them women, and all but one by hanging. This two-volume edition gives an account of Salem village and a history of opinions on witchcraft and kindred subjects. The first volume of this book contains what seems to be necessary to prepare the reader for the second, in which the incidents and circumstances connected with the witchcraft prosecutions in 1692, at the village and in the town of Salem, are reduced to chronological order, and exhibited in detail. Contents: Map and Illustrations Index to the Map Town of Salem Grants Farms Salem Village Witchcraft Witchcraft at Salem Village Prefatory Address Deodat Lawson's Narrative Letter From R.P. To Jonathan Corwin Extracts From Mr. Parris's Church Records
