Preliminary Report on a Study of Separated Flows in Supersonic and Subsonic Streams
註釋This paper is a preliminary and brief account of some research conducted during the last two years on the general problem of flow separation. The research is fundamental in nature, being partly theoretical and partly experimental. Measurements have been made at subsonic as well as supersonic speeds for a variety of two-dimensional model shapes, each involving separation. Study is made of the over-all pressure rise for incipient and first peak (or plateau) pressure in flows where sizable separated regions exist. Detailed cognizance is taken throughout the location of transition relative to the reattachment and the separation positions, as this relative location was found to be the most important variable investigated.
