Nutritional Aspects of Human Physical and Athletic Performance
註釋Abstract: The purpose of this monograph is to analyze and synthesize the available literature relative to nutrition and human physical and athletic performance. It is primarily concerned with the effects of nutrition on human physical performance related to athletic ability. It is outlined as follows: 1) hictorical aspects of nutrition and athletic performance, leading into the nutritional faddism current in today; 2) energy and metabolism concepts, and the role of major nutrients, i.e., carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water, in the diet of athletes; 3) drug foods--alcohol and caffeine, ergogenic foods, and weight control; and special nutritional concerns for athletes. This text includes an extensive bibliography; appendices include the 1980 Recommended Dietary Allowances; American College of Sports Medicine position on prevention of thermal injuries during distance running; and proper and improper weight loss program.
