註釋A three-page, handwritten letter dated Nov. 30, 1822, from Joseph Planta Jr., Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to Robert Wilmot, Under Secretary for War and the Colonies, discusses the inability of the two parties to agree on portions of the U.S.-Canada border under the 5th Article of the Treaty of Ghent. It is accompanied by an archive withdrawal notice dated May 19, 1926, for a 'Map to illustrate arguments under the 5th Article of the Treaty of Ghent' -- apparently the same map referred to in the letter, but absent.
