註釋Consisting principally of correspondence, bills, and legal documents of attorneys Julian Mitchell and Henry A.M. Smith re various legal matters and parcels of real estate on Edisto Island. Includes a short series of correspondence, 1900-1902, from J. Swinton Whaley of Edisto Island in his role as guardian of Harriet Susan Whaley, daughter of the late Benjamin J. Whaley. Mitchell and Smith appear to have been the controlling factors for Central Mills on Edisto Island. Correspondence from M.M. Seabrook (d. 1911) and later F.M. Mitchell pertains to the workings of the mill and requesting supplies be drawn on the law firm's account.
