The Relative Magnitude of the Impacts and Effects of GHG-related Emission Reductions
註釋This scoping paper provides a preliminary assessment of the current state of knowledge regarding the benefits associated with climate change mitigation, focusing on the impacts & effects of greenhouse gas-related emission reduction. It begins by discussing climate change impacts in general, responses to climate change, and the addressing of science & policy questions pertaining to atmospheric issues via an integrative approach. This is followed by a description of the analytical framework being used to assess the relative magnitude of impacts & effects of greenhouse gas-related emission reductions. Section 4 explains how air issues interact with each other in complex & synergistic ways, focusing on the related impacts of individual pollutants and how they will be affected by greenhouse gas emission reductions. Section 5 assesses the relative magnitude of the environmental, social welfare, and human health effects, projects potential benefits to human health, and discusses externalities (impacts not directly related to emissions). Section 6 discusses the significance of scale in the assessment of emissions reduction effects. The final section proposes an action plan for further research.
